Small, senior, and intentional

FencePencil is built by a tiny team of senior engineers — and the goal is to stay that way. We are not actively hiring right now, but we are always interested in hearing from people who want to ship excellent software with people who care.

No open roles right now

We post roles here when we have them. In the meantime, if you are a senior full-stack engineer, infrastructure engineer, or product designer who wants to build something that ships every week, we would love to hear from you.

What we look for

Even when we are not actively hiring, these are the qualities we always say yes to.

Senior-only team

Every engineer who joins has shipped production software for 10+ years. We will not grow into a body shop. When we hit capacity we say no — we do not hire juniors to fill the gap.

Generalist mindset

You will write TypeScript, Terraform, SQL, shell, and the occasional Python. You will design APIs, ship UIs, and run incidents. We do not silo people.

Customer-obsessed

Every engineer talks to customers, runs incidents, and signs their name to commits in customer repos. The work shows up in real businesses, not in a backlog.

High taste, low ceremony

Strong opinions on craftsmanship and product taste, but minimal process overhead. Async-first, quarterly in-person, async-async-async on planning.
